Vacuum Sealer Maintenance And Servicing
|
The following is a general outline on the maintenance and servicing of a vacuum sealer. Many vacuum sealer units will follow the same procedures for maintenance as the ones descibed here. The maintenance procedures described here are for an American International Electric model AIE-18V and MVP-18.
Changing the non-stick cover, heating element and no stick insulator
- For this procedure you will need ...
- New non-stick cover
- New heating element
- New no stick insulator tape
- Hex wrenches - 1/16", 5/32" and 1/4"
(This is for the AIE machine we are working with. Your machine may need different tools for this job)
- Small slotted screwdriver

Procedure
- 1. Make certain the power is OFF. As a matter of fact, go ahead an unlug it from the oulet just to be on the safe side.
- 2. Releive the air pressure - this must be done in order to service the machine.
- 3. Using the 1/4' hex wrench, remove the two top cylinder screws from each end of the pressure bar. Remove pressure bar and set aside for now.
- 4. Using the 5/32" wrench, remove the four bolts which attach the vacuum rubber holding bar to the lower seal bar. Remove the bar and set aside.
- 5. Continuing with the 5/32" hex wrench, loosen but do not remove the four bolts which attach the cover holding bar to the lower seal bar.
- 6. Now push the vacuum nozzle back fully.
- 7. The cover can now be removed to reveal the heating element.
At this point, if you are only changing a worn out cover, you can do so by first wedging the cover between the rear cover holding bar and then tightening the four bolts.Finish the procedure by reversing steps four and five.
To change the heating element, continue to the next section.
- 8. Working from either side, push the piston down.
- 9. Push in the terminal block and tighten set screw with the 1/16" hex wrench
DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN!
- 10. Depending on your model of vacuum sealer this may need to be repeated on the other side as well.
- 11. Using the screwdriver, remove the terminal screw from each side making note of how the wire and washers are positioned so they can be put in the same position during reassembly.
- 12. Remove the heating element.
- 13. Now inspect the self adhesive insulator. If it shows signs of burn marks or any kind of damage, replace it. To remove, simply peel off. To install the new insulator, remove the backing to expose the adhesive and press into place. Make sure the strip runs straight and smoooth.
- 14. Install the new heating element by reversing the procedure in steps 11 and 9.
- 15. Reassemble the unit by reversing the remaining steps.
NOTE: DO NOT FORGET TO LOOSEN BOTH TERMINAL BLOCK SET SCREWS!!!!!!!
